The Tom Lehrer Project was kicked into life by Christophey Hayden back in 2010, when he brought Lilli an idea for a new kind of musical theatre project using the songs of Tom Lehrer. In case you don't know who Tom Lehrer is, have a google - he's a genius.

After Cameron Mackintosh generously granted us the rights to workshop his back catalogue, we raised some further funding for two intensive weeks of R&D in July 2010, with thanks to in kind support from National Theatre Studio and the Bush Theatre for use of their spaces. The original workshop participants were Christopher Haydon (director), Adam Brace (writer), Chris Branch (sound/composer) and Ferdy Roberts (performer).

Following the end of the two weeks and a few more months of thinking and meeting between Chris and Adam, a clear framework for the narrative and artistic design of the projet had emerged, and interest from potential co-producers and venues has been growing.

Plans are now being finalised (and money raised!) to hold a further week's workshop, after which Adam will write a first draft and we can begin to see whether a 2012 premiere might be possible.

If you're interested in any aspect of the show, please do get in touch.
